A Toast to the Coast

Getting Ready for Santa Barbara
November 7th-9th, 2022

We want you to join us as we make a “Toast to the Coast” at IFEC’s annual conference in Santa Barbara, CA November 7 – November 9, 2022 at the beautiful, beachfront Mar Monte Hotel.  Join industry colleagues at the premier foodservice communications event fall of 2022 in a resort style hotel, tastefully renovated, with gorgeous views of the ocean, steps from the beach and walking distance to Santa Barbara’s famed “Funk Zone”.   Santa Barbara, The American Riviera®,  is renowned for their gorgeous south-facing location tucked between the ocean and mountains and boasts of an amazing agricultural heritage (avocados to cannabis) along with proximity to an incredible wine region and unparalleled access to the freshest of ingredients and inspiring chefs. Julia Child loved Santa Barbara, why wouldn’t you? 

Early bird registration is $575 for members - the fee shown on the registration form includes a 3% convenience fee. If you wish to pay with a check or ACH email the IFEC  office for a revised invoice.

The California Avocado Commission is excited to welcome everyone to IFEC’s 2022 conference, “A Toast to the Coast,” in sunny Santa Barbara. As many of you know, California has ideal weather for avocado trees to thrive and an industry that’s dedicated to making sure that the best avocados have California in them.We raise a toast to this year’s conference by offering a chance to win a flat of Fresh California Avocados and some cool swag. We’ll randomly draw names for one (1) editor and one (1) publicist.

A Toast to the Coast

  • The annual conference has the full complement of IFEC signature events: Welcome Reception, Office Hours, Chef Showcase, Activity Stations, New Member/Family Activity, the Annual Meeting, the Betty and TerrIFECer awards, plus countless networking, tasting and learning opportunities. Chef Showcase: this may be the only IFEC Chef Showcase to be ON THE BEACH! To be held at the historic Cabrillo Pavilion, a premier oceanfront event venue.

  • Virtual Meet the Press session prior to the conference - get the down low on the editor's needs BEFORE you leave for CA! Sponsored by California Milk Advisory Board

  • Food Tours: explore the best of what Santa Barbara has to offer the foodservice world! Avocados, abalone, tri-tip, cheeses, uni, wine, cannabis – you name it Santa Barbara has it!

  • Editor’s Roundtable–a media-only, directed discussion on the hot button topics related to challenges in the B2B world, including strategies for digital content.
     
  • Publicist’s Strategy Session  – engaging professional development session with Tik Tok creator Lena Katz to learn all about Tik Tok strategies for brands


Registration will include 3 key steps:

  1. Optional Land Shark tour on Monday morning. This 90-minute land and sea tour adventure is just for IFECers and will depart at 10am from the hotel. Great way to meet other attendees and get an overview of the city, add it to your registration. Space is limited, first come first served.
  2. The Office Hours box must be checked off if you wish to schedule office hours. As always, only 1 set of appointments are available per client. If you are unsure how this works, just ask. 
  3. Food tours will be on the afternoon of the last day. You must select a food tour when your register (no-tour will be an option) so read up on the descriptions. 

Conference highlights include:

  • Winemaker Brooke Carhartt of Carhartt Family Wines will present during the Tuesday lunch, also guiding a tasting of her wines.

  • Editor's Media Roundtable-a media-only, directed discussion on the hot button topics related to challenges in the B2B world, including strategies for digital content.

  • Lena Katz will hold a Tik Tok strategy and execution session  - we know you have questions about Tik Tok, Lena will demystify it all!

  • Betty and TerrIFECer Award lunch with a California Dreamin' theme and one of a kind local wines.

  • Annual meeting with board elections and conference city nominations

Early bird registration (July 16 through August 31) $575 for members; $1000 for non-members
Regular registration $700 for members; $1,125 for non-members

You must be logged in as a member to receive the member rate. Log in, go to the Member Center and the Events tiles to see the member rate. Once you register you can add other colleagues to your registration as well as non-member guests with meal only options. Everything would be combined on a single invoice. You can pay with a credit card or request an invoice to pay with a check.

Full registration includes all meals, classes, and activities.
